Visual Web Part == SmartPart for SharePoint 2010 ?

Does Visual Studio 2010's built-in new Visual Web Part for SharePoint 2010 project make your project unnecessary or am I missing something?

In the few small "Hello, World" examples I've worked in my SharePoint 2010 virtual machines, it's pretty simple to do using the built-in features of Visual Studio 2010.

The problem with the Visual Web part is that Visual Studio has to deploy the Web Part via Visual Studio or command prompt calls. With SmartPart you deploy once and then just add .ascx files to the /usercontrols directory. So if you want to just build basic html web, asp.net parts you will not need to reference the SharePoint Library either which makes editing the project easier on a client machine.
